I live in Kimberly with my 2 kids and 3 cats.  I love the outdoors and exploring nature. I also love reading and writing and am very artistic.  I draw, sing and have been in plays in the past.  My son Peyton (15)  is involved in soap box derby racing and Boy Scouts.  My daughter Meghan (13) loves doing plays—especially musicals. This summer we traveled west to see the total eclipse and got to tour the Black Hills in South Dakota and Mount Rushmore as well.

Mr. HazenI’m really excited to be joining the WCA team! For the past 10 years, I served the Racine community as a teacher, coach, leadership consultant, and bully prevention coordinator. To me, nothing is more important than providing students a better understanding of how learning connects to the real world as well as showing them how to develop skills in communication and active citizenship. Embracing and respecting diversity is also a highlight of my educational goals.

Beyond teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have an amazing wife and two young boys (Zach and Luke). I’m also a huge sports enthusiast and routinely play golf, basketball, soccer, and curling in the winter.

Mr. Hazen - Social Studies

This is my 13th year teaching. 2 years in Racine at Horlick High School, 6 years in Waupaca, and now 5 years in Appleton. June 2016 I got married to my husband and at the end of last school year we bought “our” first house together. This summer has been spent doing lots of outside leveling work, planting grass, landscaping, and all the other fun projects a new house brings! I can’t wait to see what the next years brings us as we’ve been pretty busy the last two summers. For fun I love to garden, read, hang out with friends and family, boat. I am a beloved Green Bay Packer fan and Duke Blue devil fan. I’m excited for the school year to begin because that means we are getting closer to these two sports!
